Ready to Represent, Ready to Serve

I am running for an at-large seat on the Board of Education to bring strategic vision, collaborative spirit, and relentless focus on equity to the table. I believe in transparent leadership, authentic engagement, and policies that reflect the lived experiences of Montgomery County families.

About Wylea

I am rooted in community and committed to change. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I have called Montgomery County home since 1998. My husband and I live in Gaithersburg, where we have raised four children; two proud MCPS graduates and two current high schoolers. My lived experience as a wife, parent, advocate, and community leader fuels my unwavering commitment to ensuring every student in Montgomery County has access to an excellent, equitable education.

What should you know about me?

  • I see the big picture and know how to move it. Whether it’s boundary study, program analysis, or equity strategy, I translate complex issues/thoughts into actionable frameworks. I also align trusted community stakeholders across sectors (nonprofit, government, education) to drive measurable impact.

  • I lead with a clear moral compass and consistently center justice, access, and belonging. I don’t just talk about equity, I do my best to build the scaffolding for it in terms of paying attention to and calling for policy reform, inclusive logistics, audits, etc.

  • I activate dialogue and not just discussion and my roles with MCCPTA, NAACP Parents Council, AAAG, LM, etc. highlight my gifts for convening diverse voices and engendering trust.

  • I will make inclusion practical, removing barriers to participation. I want every detail to support success. I believe in shared ownership; this needs to come with educating the community. Flying the plane while learning to fly the plane!

  • I believe in bringing clarity to complex issues. My goal is to make sure information is clear, transparent, and accessible so every one can engage and make informed decisions.
