Wylea Chase
Candidate for Montgomery County Board of Education - At Large
Why I’m Running
I have decided to run for an at-large seat on the Board of Education (BOE) because I feel a sense of urgency, especially in these current times. My lived experience as a mother, wife, and a Black Woman of strong faith, lead me to this decision. It took me a while to decide and a big part of that decision was confirmed in prayer, talking to my husband and being encouraged by some wonderful people that I trust and respect. But at the heart of it all is the fact that representation matters! My lived experience tells me that I need to be in the room interrupting “business as usual” and advocate for our children, their parents and caregivers and our teachers.
MCPS can’t do it all alone, they need our community, and I am a convener of people. People who are READY and well equipped to do what is needed; many hands make light work. We have real talent and people who care in our County, and we need to tap into those human resources now more than ever.
